Four jobs already exist in the state's publications. The work here is putting the right one on the ticket before the deposit is called income.

Owners do not arrive asking for a publication number. They arrive with a week of calls and a deposit that mixed them. The useful question is which of those calls was a house, which was a shop, which was new construction, and which was the checkup that was already on the calendar.
A no-heat week stacks calls, and the maintenance agreements that were already on the calendar ride in the same deposit. We know that week. It is a poor week to learn that the no-heat calls and the maintenance agreements were taxed as if they were the same job. The pad in the truck is where those two jobs get different words.
We do not invent questions to fill a box. The four below are the ones a ticket forces, because the sales tax follows the job word. If your question is a fifth thing, send it. We will answer that one, and we will not pretend it was on a list we did not have.
Labor to repair a residence is not taxable. Materials follow the lump sum or separated rules. A lake house rented for a long stay can still be a residence. A hotel room, and a place rented for less than 30 days, are not that residence. The ticket should say house when it was a house, in words a later reader does not have to guess.
If the technician replaced a part and also charged a trip, those can be two lines. The labor line and the part line do not have to share one tax answer. Cover the prices when you send the photo. Leave the words.
Repair or remodel of nonresidential real property is taxable on the whole charge, labor and materials, one price or split. A permit fee paid for the customer and written on its own line can come out of that total. State tax is 6.25 percent, and local tax stops at a combined 8.25 percent.
An office ticket that was taxed like a house call is the mistake the Saturday game will not forgive, because the return will not forgive it either. The fix is the job word, then the tax, then the deposit. The order matters. Taxing the deposit before the job is named is how the file gets confident and wrong.
New construction labor is not taxable, including the initial finish out and the remodel of houses, duplexes, apartments, nursing homes, and retirement homes. Hotels stay off that list. When the new build is one price, tax on the purchases stays with the contractor and is not billed onward. Separated means tax on incorporated materials and on a short list of identified extras, and no tax on the construction labor.
A checkup that was scheduled, on property that was not broken, done so it would not wear out, is maintenance. The charge is not taxable. Parts that get built in are taxable. A belt swapped during the checkup can stay maintenance. A rebuild of a broken commercial unit cannot. The agreement, or some other record of the schedule, is what lets a stranger believe you.
Name the job in a sentence. House, office, new build, or maintenance is enough to start.
You will be talking to the Steven Palmieri practice.
